I'm ashamed to admit this, buuuuut I didn't even know the Super Bowl was happening this weekend until a friend asked me this morning if I was going to post GF Super Bowl apps. Oops! Life is just so different these days....yes, COVID, but also in my defense, the Patriots are not in it, so I haven't been paying much attention. But alas, our beloved Tom Brady IS, so I will probably tune in a little for him and also for the halftime show because I do like The Weekend AND I want to hear more from the uber-talented Amanda Gorman!
Regardless of who is playing, the best part of the Super Bowl hands down is the FOOD. We can all agree on that, right? Here's a round up of my favorite GF apps to make your small, socially distant super bowl celebration safe for your dietary needs :) Check them out, and load up your Instacart or Whole Foods/Prime app and get ready for some football!
I love a good GF Chex Mix. Glutino Bagel chips have sadly disappeared BUT The Greater
Charcuterie Boards are ALWAYS fun. I love making an assortment of GF crackers, cheeses, spreads, veggies, dips, dried fruits, meats and little sweet treats! If you are celebrating beyond your immediate family, consider making individual/mini assortments.
No Super Bowl Sunday is complete without wings! These crockpot buffalo wings are SUPER easy. Be sure to finish them in the broiler or the air fryer to crisp them up!
I have been using the Primal Buffalo sauce, which is GF, dairy free and Whole 30/Paleo friendly (available in Mild, Medium or Hot). Found locally @wholefoods. You can save $$ by making your own!
If wings aren't your thing, but you crave that buffalo flavor, give these Easy Cauliflower Buffalo Bites from @theholdernessfamily a go. These are definitely going on my menu!
For GF/DF dipping, try Primal Ranch Dressing.
@Daiya makes a GF/DF "Blue Cheeze" dressing - truth be told, I haven't tried it.
This Layered Greek Hummus Dip from @Aggieskitchen is one of long time party faves!
This combo of hummus (use prepared make your own), artichoke hearts, kalamata olives, cucumbers, red peppers. feta and Pepperoncini is both healthy and delish! Dip fresh cut veggies, GF tortilla chips or GF Pita.
Instead of the usual pub style, fried potato skins, these Mexican Sweet Potato skins from @pinchofyum are a healthier option and they look amazing!
I haven't made these yet, but they are on this year's menu for sure! I'll use @violife cheddar shredz and will likely skip the sour cream, but there are many DF options available!
When in doubt, or short on time, it's Nachos to the rescue!
There is nothing easier than throwing down a bag of GF corn tortilla chips on a pan (I love Mia Nina brand) and layering them with meat, cheese, veggies, olives, salsa and whatever else suits your fancy!
No Super Bowl Sunday is complete without a little something sweet....
My family loves these GF Seven Layer Bars from @glutenfreepalate...they are goooood! I sub sweetened condensed coconut milk and enjoy life chocolate chips to make these DF.
If you want to keep it simple, we all love good GF brownies and King Arthur has the best boxed mix IMO. I sub coconut oil for butter and add DF chocolate chips. For a really dreamy desert, turn those brownies into Brownie Sundaes! We add DF ice cream, chocolate sauce, fresh berries, whipped cream (try coco whip for DF) and sprinkles.
Not up for baking? Look for these at your grocery store! I found them locally at @stopandshop and they are really good!
That's my roundup. I would love to hear about your favorite GF Super Bowl snacks!
Happy GF Super Bowl Sunday peeps! May the best team (who's playing again?!) or Tom Brady WIN!
